Kings HC Praises Ben Simmons’ Defensive Versatility; Highlights Offensive Role

Sacramento Kings head coach Doug Christie praised Ben Simmons' two-way upside and versatility during training camp following the 30-year-old guard's return to the NBA. After missing the entire 2025-26 season, Simmons signed a one-year, non-guaranteed contract with the Kings. Christie noted that Simmons can function effectively both on and off the ball while reading defenses at a high level.

Teammate Malik Monk reported that Simmons has handled versatile roles in camp, including playing as a "point-4" and creating open space for perimeter shooters. Simmons is anticipated to primarily come off the bench behind Darius Acuff Jr., offering playmaking in transition and multi-positional defense.
