Sacramento Kings majority owner Vivek Ranadivé reportedly turned a preseason team dinner into a roast aimed at players, coaches, and front-office executives. According to NBA insider Zach Lowe, the owner addressed attendees before training camp, listing various perceived failures and public criticisms surrounding the franchise in an apparent effort to provide motivation.
The Kings reportedly confirmed the nature of the speech to Lowe, with reactions among team personnel described as mixed. Fadeaway World notes that the incident adds scrutiny to the organization following a 0-2 preseason start against the Los Angeles Lakers and Ranadivé's 436-610 franchise record since purchasing the team in 2013.
