The Sacramento Kings have traded guard Nique Clifford to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Here's why the Kings made the move & what comes next.

The Sacramento Kings are trading guard Nique Clifford to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for two future second-round draft picks. According to reporting from ESPN's Shams Charania and league sources, Oklahoma City will send Utah's 2028 second-rounder and Minnesota's 2030 second-rounder to Sacramento. Clifford was originally drafted 24th overall by the Kings in 2025 after Sacramento acquired the draft pick from the Thunder.
Clifford's playing time declined significantly under head coach Doug Christie this season, logging just 50 minutes across eight games after regularly contributing during his rookie year. For Oklahoma City, the trade provides depth following injuries to Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, and Cason Wallace. For Sacramento, the move generates a roughly $3.3 million trade exception and opens roster flexibility below the luxury tax threshold.
