Karl-Anthony Towns stated he would be willing to take less than his maximum salary on a contract extension with the New York Knicks. Towns explained during an interview that keeping the team's core together is his primary focus, noting that taking a maximum deal was never his intention.
The Knicks reportedly discussed an offer around $50 million annually before tabling extension discussions with eligible players. Towns, a six-time All-Star, is eligible for a projected four-year maximum contract worth $276 million, averaging $69 million per season.
