Raptors’ RJ Barrett Gets Telling Contract Extension Update

Toronto Raptors forward RJ Barrett and the team have yet to hold substantive contract extension negotiations, according to Sportsnet's Michael Grange. Barrett is entering the final season of his four-year, $107 million contract and could theoretically sign a four-year extension worth up to $185 million, but talks with agent Bill Duffy remain nonexistent.

Barrett stated that he is remaining patient regarding contract talks, noting that he is focused on playing regardless of the outcome. The 26-year-old will earn $29.61 million in the 2026-27 season and is expected to retain a significant role under head coach Darko Rajakovic following Toronto's trade for Kawhi Leonard.
