Karl-Anthony Towns stated he was "very disappointed" after the New York Knicks announced they are tabling all contract extension talks until later in the 2026/27 season. Towns said the team's public announcement was news to him, following previous remarks where he admitted frustration over the significant negotiating gap between both sides.
Reports indicate New York offered Towns roughly $200 million over four years, while he is eligible for a four-year maximum extension projected around $276 million. Negotiations are further complicated by owner James Dolan's mandate to keep the Knicks beneath the second tax apron.
