The Golden State Warriors have reportedly entered the market for free agent forward Rui Hachimura, establishing significant interest in the former Los Angeles Laker. This move provides the organization with a strong alternative target as it continues its widely reported pursuit of LeBron James.
Hachimura offers the kind of offensive efficiency Golden State values. During the 2025-26 season, he averaged 11.5 points while shooting an impressive 51.4 percent from the floor and 44.3 percent from three-point range. His ability to space the floor from the power forward position would add a valuable dimension to the Warriors’ offensive system, creating more room for their primary playmakers to operate. He has developed into a reliable perimeter shooter and capable defender, fitting the profile of a modern NBA forward.
According to a report from NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, the interest is concrete. “As the market has developed, sources say Hachimura’s representation has now been in contact with Minnesota and Golden State as well,” they wrote. This confirms Golden State is actively involved in discussions as Hachimura evaluates his options following his departure from the Lakers.
The Warriors are not without competition. The Minnesota Timberwolves have also been identified as a primary suitor, with a clear need in their frontcourt. “The Timberwolves have a well-chronicled need for a power forward after committing to trade away Randle and Naz Reid so they can pair LaMelo Ball with Anthony Edwards and Hachimura is said to stand as their current top choice at the position.” For Golden State, securing Hachimura would not only strengthen their roster but also weaken a Western Conference rival, making the pursuit a strategic priority.
