The expectations with being the No. 1 pick may never disappear, but Deandre Ayton can still build a valuable NBA career in the right role with Washington.
Ethan Kinney of Wiz of Awes argues that Deandre Ayton is positioned for a career revival with the Washington Wizards. Joining Washington marks Ayton's fourth team across five seasons and the first time he enters a campaign outside of a guaranteed starting role, which Kinney believes lowers expectations and suits him well.
The writer notes that Ayton can thrive off the bench behind Anthony Davis and Alex Sarr, while benefiting from the playmaking of guard Trae Young away from intense media scrutiny.
