LeBron James Hints Wizards Can Surprise A Lot Of Teams In The East

LeBron James suggested on the Mind the Game podcast with Steve Nash that the Washington Wizards could surprise teams in the Eastern Conference during the 2026-27 NBA season. James noted that the franchise fast-tracked its rebuilding timeline by shifting away from the draft lottery following the high-profile additions of All-Stars Trae Young and Anthony Davis.

The Wizards acquired Young from the Atlanta Hawks and Davis from the Dallas Mavericks in early 2026, pairing them alongside young talent including 2026 first-overall pick A.J. Dybantsa and Alex Sarr. Fadeaway World notes that while Washington showed early promise with preseason wins against the Knicks and Pistons, player health and roster chemistry remain key concerns.
