The Wizards’ wildest era had to be when Gilbert Arenas was the supreme overlord of the locker room. Between pranks and off-court shenanigans, some stories the mid-2000s Wizards are too unhinged to believe.
Former Washington Wizards player Nick Young revealed on the Club Shay Shay podcast that a team cheerleader was fired during his rookie season for fraternizing with him and Andray Blatche. Young told host Shannon Sharpe that he and Blatche became too friendly with the dancer before leaving an event together, violating strict team fraternization rules that Young claimed he was unaware of at the time.
Young also disclosed that star teammate Gilbert Arenas gave the dismissed cheerleader $10,000 in cash after she lost her job. While Young and Blatche avoided team discipline, Arenas has previously criticized the policy, noting that strict rules unfairly penalize low-earning support staff rather than highly paid athletes.
