Michigan forward Yaxel Lendeborg is presenting his history of success as a key asset in the lead-up to the 2026 NBA Draft. During a pre-draft workout with the Golden State Warriors, who finished the 2025-26 season with a 37-45 record and missed the playoffs, Lendeborg emphasized his commitment to team-oriented basketball.
Standing nearly 6-foot-9 with a 7-foot-4 wingspan, Lendeborg offers the defensive versatility that modern NBA teams require. His game is not built on high-volume scoring but on impacting possessions as a rebounder, defender, and secondary playmaker. He envisions himself as a complementary piece who can alleviate pressure on established stars, noting how he could fit with Golden State. “Whenever Steph [Curry] is getting taken out of the game. I’ll be there to assist. Maybe provide a little bit more offense or instant offense.” He also recognized the advantage of playing alongside a generational talent. “He provides so much gravity on the court that it really makes it super easy for other guys to score, other guys to showcase any ability that they have.”
Lendeborg’s path has been different from many top prospects, a fact he addresses directly when discussing his age. At 24, he is older than many in his draft class, but he views his experience as a strength. “A lot of these younger prospects have just been in the spotlight a little bit longer than I was, been playing since they were younger. Everybody’s path is different, and every time I get on the court, I’m gonna showcase that.” With the draft set for June 23-24, he is also scheduled to work out with the Clippers and Hawks.
As he meets with franchises, Lendeborg wants to convey his character off the court. He said: “I’m a very real, honest guy. And a guy who likes goofing off a lot. So you know, just showing my authentic self is something I always want to showcase.” For a Warriors team holding the 11th pick and looking for immediate contributors, Lendeborg’s blend of skill, maturity, and a team-first mentality presents a compelling option.
