The Atlanta Falcons signed veteran quarterback Andy Dalton on Monday, October 19, to bolster their quarterback depth following a 31-23 loss to the Chicago Bears. In a corresponding transaction, the team released backup quarterback Cooper Rush. Dalton, entering his 16th NFL season, joins a quarterback room led by starter Michael Penix Jr. alongside backup Tua Tagovailoa.
Dalton began the 2026 season with the Philadelphia Eagles before his release on October 9. Rush previously started two games for Atlanta this season while Penix and Tagovailoa were injured, throwing for 229 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions as the Falcons lost both contests.
