The Panthers defense got a spark from a new face and created some turnovers, but injuries and third-down proved too much to overcome in loss.

The Carolina Panthers defense generated two turnovers but could not overcome mounting secondary injuries in a 27-19 defeat against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Safety Nick Scott forced a fumble recovered by Bobby Okereke, and Zakee Wheatley recorded an interception, but Green Bay converted crucial third downs to stay in control.
Carolina's secondary suffered another setback when rookie cornerback Will Lee III exited with a hamstring injury following a 53-yard pass to Christian Watson. With Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, and Akayleb Evans already sidelined, head coach Dave Canales relied on recent addition Marco Wilson, who posted a team-high eight tackles.
