The Chicago Bears worried that Ozzy Trapilo might not return in 2026. It can be understood why. He suffered a patellar tendon rupture in January. The best-case scenario is a return in 9 months. From the way the team sounded…

Chicago Bears tackle Ozzy Trapilo revealed that he had felt physically ready to play weeks before making his season debut against the Atlanta Falcons. Trapilo had suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in January, an injury that initially carried fears of a season-long absence. He returned to game action on Sunday, logging 23 total snaps, including 17 snaps on the offensive line, while allowing one quarterback pressure.
Speaking to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Trapilo noted the team's medical and coaching staff chose to be cautious before clearing him. Erik Lambert writes that head coach Ben Johnson prioritized ensuring Trapilo was mentally confident in his knee. Lambert believes it is only a matter of time before Trapilo reclaims his starting left tackle position from Theo Benedet.
