Jason Witten could be a candidate for a coaching position with the Dallas Cowboys in the near future.

The Landry Hat argues that former tight end Jason Witten could emerge as a future coaching candidate for the Dallas Cowboys following his promotion at Oklahoma. Witten was recently named the Sooners' playcaller under head coach Brent Venables after offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle was dismissed mid-season. Witten previously coached at Liberty Christian high school for four seasons after his retirement from the NFL in 2021.
Writer Jess Haynie highlights Witten's strong ties to Jerry Jones and comparisons to former players-turned-coaches like Dan Campbell and Jason Garrett. Haynie suggests that as Dallas potentially looks beyond head coach Brian Schottenheimer in 2027, Witten's extensive franchise history and leadership qualities could make him an appealing prospect for the organization either as a coordinator or head coach.
