Following his trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. stated that he hopes to finish his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys. Pittsburgh traded Porter to Dallas for a 2028 second-round draft pick and a conditional 2027 sixth-round selection. Porter, who missed Pittsburgh's first three games citing a back injury, passed his physical with the Cowboys and practiced on Thursday with head coach Brian Schottenheimer noting a positive first day.
Porter is in the final year of his rookie contract after failing to agree on an extension with Steelers general manager Omar Khan. Porter expressed that he felt disrespected and undervalued by Pittsburgh's contract negotiations, but indicated he is willing to play out the season in Dallas. Alongside wide receiver George Pickens, Porter is set to become one of the team's highest-profile impending free agents ahead of 2027.
