Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer voiced strong support for defensive coordinator Christian Parker despite the team falling to a 2-3 record following a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Schottenheimer confirmed that all defensive decisions will continue to run through the 34-year-old coordinator as they prepare to face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.
The Cowboys hired former Packers coach Mike Pettine as a senior defensive assistant on Monday. Schottenheimer clarified that Pettine was brought in as a trusted sounding board and advisor rather than to take authority away from Parker, noting Parker will likely call plays from the sideline while Pettine sits in the coaching booth.
