Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks after being placed on injured reserve. Pierce aggravated his surgically repaired heel during Sunday's overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Initial fears of a torn Achilles tendon were avoided, giving the team hope that Pierce will return for much of the second half of the 2026 season.

The injury comes amid reports that 2026 is a win-or-out season for Colts general manager Chris Ballard. Following a late-season collapse last year, Ballard made major investments by signing Pierce to a four-year, $114 million extension and keeping quarterback Daniel Jones on a two-year, $88 million deal.
