Referees aren't immune from the NFL injury bug.

NFL umpire Larry Smith will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn quadriceps muscle, according to Football Zebras. Smith suffered the non-contact injury after slipping on the turf at Wembley Stadium during Sunday's game between the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Line judge Carl Johnson and medical trainers attended to Smith on the field after he staggered in visible pain.
Smith is currently in his second NFL season following collegiate officiating stints in the Big Ten and Mid-American Conference. His absence leaves referee Shawn Hochuli's crew needing a replacement umpire ahead of their Week 7 assignment.
