Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson stated he believes he suffers from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) following his physically demanding NFL career. According to an ESPN report, the 46-year-old detailed severe cognitive symptoms including short-term memory loss, blanking out while driving, and struggling with basic daily tasks, which he first publicly addressed back in 2017.

Johnson set an NFL record with 416 rushing attempts in 2006 and amassed over 1,500 career touches with Kansas City before facing a steep physical decline. Although CTE can only be definitively diagnosed posthumously, Johnson explained he creates time capsules with internet videos and photos to preserve memories for his daughter.
