Key Things to Know

  • Inside two minutes, coaches cannot challenge plays, leaving reviews solely to the replay officials.
The Story in 60 Seconds

FOX rules analyst Dean Blandino highlighted a major officiating mechanics breakdown during the Kansas City Chiefs' 30-27 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. With 25 seconds remaining, a 23-yard catch by Tre Tucker appeared to hit the ground, but replay officials failed to halt play before Kirk Cousins spiked the ball, preventing a review inside the two-minute warning.

Blandino stated that replay officials should have stopped the game immediately once Las Vegas lined up. NBC Sports reporter Zachary Krueger noted that a review likely would have overturned the catch. The play stood, though the Raiders ultimately fell short after Cousins threw an interception with 10 seconds remaining.
