The Kansas City Chiefs announced that "Red Thursday" sales raised $1 million for Ronald McDonald House Kansas City. The funds were generated through flag sales and the Hunt Family Foundation 50/50 Raffle during the team's season opener against the Denver Broncos. While traditionally celebrated as Red Friday, the event took place on Thursday, Sept. 10, in observance of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Ronald McDonald House Kansas City provides lodging and support for families while children receive medical care at local hospitals. This year's contribution brings the total raised over the past 14 years to more than $8.5 million, and approximately $10 million overall since the initiative began in 1992.
