Three years into the Xavier Worthy experience, the Kansas City Chiefs should not be in a rush to keep him around for much longer.

KC Kingdom's Ernesto Cova argues that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy is playing his way off the team during a disappointing third NFL season. Through seven games in 2026, Worthy has recorded just 27 receptions on 41 targets for 230 yards despite frequently serving as the team's primary receiving option due to injuries.
Cova notes that Patrick Mahomes is averaging only 5.6 yards per pass when targeting Worthy, compared to 8.2 yards per target toward other receivers. With Worthy struggling to create separation, the writer contends the Chiefs may decline his fifth-year option and suggests general manager Brett Veach must overhaul the team's receiving corps.
