McDaniel knows it takes time to learn his offense. He also acknowledges that, "No one has time for my ego."

After a shaky start to the season, Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Chris O’Leary successfully adjusted his unit, generating five turnovers against the Buffalo Bills. However, despite the defense's standout performance and a plus-four turnover advantage, the Chargers dropped to 0-3 on the season. The pressure has now shifted entirely to new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel to fix an underperforming offense that continues to struggle with penalties, turnovers, and execution.
McDaniel took full responsibility for the offensive woes, noting that quarterback Justin Herbert and the unit are still adapting to his complex scheme. While tight end Hayden Rucci highlighted the learning curve required for McDaniel's system, McDaniel acknowledged that he must adapt his philosophies and set his ego aside to build an offense that can score points and secure victories.
