Los Angeles Chargers Pro Bowl left tackle Rashawn Slater underwent surgery for a high ankle sprain and will be placed on injured reserve. The tightrope procedure, performed on Thursday, aims to accelerate Slater's recovery, but he will miss at least four games as the winless Chargers navigate a difficult schedule.
This marks the second consecutive season requiring an IR stint for Slater, who signed a four-year, $114 million extension before missing 2025 with a torn patellar tendon. The setback further depletes the Chargers' offensive line, with right tackle Joe Alt also expected to miss Week 5 due to a neck injury.
