The Los Angeles Chargers are placing left tackle Rashawn Slater on injured reserve after he underwent surgery for a high-ankle sprain on Thursday. According to Ian Rapoport, Slater had a tightrope procedure designed to accelerate his recovery timetable following an injury sustained during Week 4's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Slater's absence adds to offensive line issues for the Chargers, with right tackle Joe Alt and guard Kayode Awosika also managing recent injuries. The 27-year-old tackle started four games this season after previously signing a four-year, $114 million contract extension with Los Angeles.
