The Detroit Lions are signing veteran wide receiver and return specialist DeAndre Carter to their practice squad, according to a report by Tom Pelissero. The move follows a Thursday workout that also included free agent Steven Sims, as the team sought a replacement for injured returner Tom Kennedy, who is expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 season due to knee surgery.
Carter brings significant NFL experience to Detroit, having appeared in 116 regular season and playoff games over an eight-year career. The 33-year-old is expected to primarily handle return duties, offering the Lions relief after they were forced to utilize starting wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on punt returns following Kennedy's injury.
