Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie and safety Quentin Lake both had an interception against the Chargers on Sunday as both captains are near the top of the NFL in both passes defended and interceptions.

Los Angeles Rams defensive backs Trent McDuffie and Quentin Lake are driving the secondary with high-level performances and friendly internal competition. Both players recorded interceptions against Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert in a 24-9 victory. Lake currently ranks near the top of the NFL with 11 passes defended and three interceptions, while McDuffie returned from a groin injury to post nine tackles, a tackle for loss, and an interception.
With cornerback Jaylen Watson sidelined for the rest of the season following shoulder surgery, defensive coordinator Chris Shula is relying heavily on McDuffie and Lake to lead the defense. Lake has played every defensive snap this season and recently handled defensive play-calling duties. Meanwhile, McDuffie is currently being monitored for a back injury ahead of the Week 9 matchup against the Washington Commanders.
