Quarterback J.J. McCarthy said it was a "shock" to be traded from the Vikings to the Giants earlier this week but he's looking at it as an opportunity to show what he can do in the NFL.

Quarterback J.J. McCarthy stated that his recent trade from the Minnesota Vikings to the New York Giants was a shock, but he views the move as an opportunity to prove himself in the NFL. McCarthy was dealt to New York for a fifth-round draft pick following over two seasons in Minnesota, having originally been selected in the top 10 of the 2024 NFL draft.
McCarthy worked with the Giants' scout team this week as Jameis Winston remains the starting quarterback following Jaxson Dart's season-ending injury. Head coach John Harbaugh declined to specify whether McCarthy would serve as the second- or third-string option against the Arizona Cardinals.
