The Miami Dolphins battled the Kansas City Chiefs in a competitive home opener but came up short. Here are four key takeaways from Miami’s loss.

The Miami Dolphins lost their home opener 24-10 against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Miami remained within one score until late in the fourth quarter before critical mistakes prevented an upset. Quarterback Malik Willis completed 20 of 36 passes for 210 yards, rushed nine times for 56 yards, and had a first-half fumble in Chiefs territory.
Miami faced depth issues after running back De'Von Achane sustained a knee injury on the opening drive. With Jaylen Wright inactive, Ollie Gordon II handled 17 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown, while Malik Washington also saw backfield snaps. Head coach Jeff Hafley also elected to take a delay-of-game penalty and punt rather than attempt a 57-yard field goal with Riley Patterson.
