The New York Giants have signed outside linebacker Jihad Ward off the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad. The roster move follows an ACL tear suffered by pass rusher Brian Burns. Ward previously played for the Giants from 2022 to 2023 and also played under current Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson with the Tennessee Titans last season.
Burns' injury will also lead to expanded edge-rushing opportunities for rookie linebacker Arvell Reese, according to John Harbaugh. Selected fifth overall, Reese had been primarily utilized at inside linebacker to open the season due to New York's outside depth.
