The Story in 60 Seconds

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that a proposed trade to re-acquire wide receiver Jauan Jennings from the Minnesota Vikings fell through because Jennings chose to stay in Minnesota. Shanahan explained that the teams reached a tentative framework allowing him to speak directly with Jennings over FaceTime, during which the receiver expressed that he was happy in his current situation with the Vikings.

Jennings, who signed a one-year, $8 million deal with Minnesota this past offseason, previously spent five seasons in San Francisco. He has recorded six catches for 54 yards across six games this season in Kevin O'Connell's offense. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio noted that Jennings remaining on the roster has kept veteran receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Minnesota's practice squad.
