Rookie runner Demond Claiborne boasts rare speed, meaning there’s plenty of upside inside of him. He is, nevertheless, not ready…

The Minnesota Vikings have officially promoted veteran running back DeeJay Dallas to the 53-man roster, installing him as the team's RB3 over rookie Demond Claiborne. Dallas was active for the Week 8 game against Detroit, logging 17 offensive snaps, while Claiborne was designated as inactive.
Writer K. Joudry argues that while Claiborne possesses high upside and elite speed, Dallas provides greater reliability on special teams and in pass protection. Joudry notes that Minnesota is keeping Claiborne on the 53-man roster to avoid losing the sixth-round pick on waivers.
