The Story in 60 Seconds

The New York Giants have officially released veteran pass rusher Jihad Ward after a brief three-week reunion. Ward was signed off the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad in late September to provide depth following Brian Burns' season-ending ACL injury. Across two appearances, the 32-year-old recorded just one tackle in approximately 41 defensive snaps.

With Ward's release, the Giants are relying primarily on an edge-rush tandem of Kayvon Thibodeaux and rookie Abdul Carter under head coach John Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. Ward previously played for the Giants from 2022 to 2023, recording eight sacks over 34 appearances during that initial stint.
