Jordan Stout's placement is helping the Giants, but his $12.3M contract should be judged alongside coverage and field position.

Alexander Wilson argues that New York Giants punter Jordan Stout is justifying his three-year, $12.3 million contract through dependable placement rather than just raw kicking distance. Through four games, Stout has placed nine of his 16 punts inside the 20-yard line with only one touchback, while posting a 50.6 gross yard average and a 44.2 net yard average.
Wilson emphasizes that field position and situational punting outweigh flashy plays like Stout's 78-yard kick against the Rams. Head coach John Harbaugh, who previously worked with Stout in Baltimore, credited gunners such as Elijah Campbell for supporting the punting unit's early success.
