Robert Saleh reveals 49ers were ‘about to draft’ Giants star Cam Skattebo

Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh revealed that the San Francisco 49ers were preparing to draft running back Cam Skattebo before the New York Giants selected him in the fourth round. Saleh, who previously served as San Francisco's defensive coordinator, stated that 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was high on Skattebo before New York drafted him 105th overall. The 49ers ultimately picked defensive lineman C.J. West at No. 113.

Skattebo has since produced 527 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 131 carries through 10 games for the Giants. His offensive workload is expected to increase following a season-ending knee injury to quarterback Jaxson Dart, as backup Jameis Winston takes over starting duties ahead of New York's upcoming matchup against Saleh's Titans.
