Former players who lost money in an alleged scam say ex-Cardinals GM Steve Keim's involvement helped convince them it was legitimate.

Former Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim faces scrutiny over his disputed role in Motion Venture, an alleged e-commerce Ponzi scheme that ensnared numerous current and former NFL figures. The company was founded by Mohamed Coulibaly, who died by suicide in July 2026 amid federal investigations. While Keim maintains he was merely another deceived victim who lost over $700,000, several investors allege he actively recruited others and lent the operation false credibility.
Documents show Keim served as an active partner and received a $500,000 wire return from Coulibaly in December 2025. Numerous athletes, including former NFL linebacker Tae Crowder and retired running back Matt Breida, suffered substantial financial losses. Federal investigators from the SEC and FBI began probing the operation following a whistleblower report, leaving victimized investors trying to recover their funds.
