The Eagles signed the 35-year-old Ertz to their practice squad after starter Dallas Goedert suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday's win over the Tennessee Titans. Hurts praised Ertz as an intelligent and consistent target with great hands.
Ertz, who previously played eight and a half seasons with Philadelphia and won Super Bowl LII, needs 11 receptions to surpass Harold Carmichael's franchise record of 589 catches. His addition provides depth to an injured tight end room that also has Grant Calcaterra and Eli Stowers on injured reserve.
