The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed veteran running back Elijah Mitchell to their practice squad amid mounting injuries at the position. Philadelphia finished Sunday's contest against the Carolina Panthers down multiple backs, leading head coach Nick Sirianni and the front office to execute a roster shuffle. Mitchell previously spent time with the team during the offseason before reaching an injury settlement in August.
Injuries have heavily impacted the position, with Saquon Barkley sidelined by a hamstring issue, Tank Bigsby on Injured Reserve, and Will Shipley out indefinitely. Alongside signing Mitchell, the Eagles waived injured running back Carson Steele and released backs Jaydon Blue and Ian Wheeler, leaving Mitchell and Dameon Pierce as their primary healthy options.
