Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham revealed on Monday that the loss to the Browns in Week 4 was the turning point for the defense and himself.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham revealed that the team's Week 4 loss to the Cleveland Browns served as the turning point for the defense. Following that defeat and a confrontation with veteran linebacker T.J. Watt, Graham moved from the coaching booth down to the sideline. Graham noted that he reflected on the bus ride home and learned to trust veteran input more, leading to a major defensive resurgence.
The turnaround was highlighted on Sunday when Pittsburgh defeated Cleveland 27-6 while recording eight sacks on quarterback Deshaun Watson. Heading into their bye week atop the AFC North at 6-2, the Steelers rank fourth in points per game allowed and have conceded only one second-half touchdown all season, marking a sharp contrast to their fourth-quarter struggles in 2025.
