Danny Briere and the Philadelphia Flyers changed the NHL’s contract landscape this summer by signing Leo Carlsson to a massive offer sheet that the Anaheim Ducks eventually matched, and it turns out they weren’t alone in their thinking.
During an interview on Morning Cuppa Hockey, player agent Ryan Keator revealed that eight NHL teams reached out regarding restricted free agent Leo Carlsson this summer. Keator stated that four clubs were very serious and two submitted firm offer sheets, including General Manager Danny Briere and the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Anaheim Ducks ultimately matched the offer sheet to keep the 21-year-old center, signing him to a five-year, $90 million contract extension. Carlsson recorded 67 points across 70 games during the 2025-26 NHL season.
