The Avalanche showed significant defensive improvement against Nashville, but another overtime loss left Colorado searching for answers after its third straight defeat to the Predators.
The Colorado Avalanche demonstrated encouraging signs but ultimately fell 3-2 in overtime to the Nashville Predators on Thursday night in Denver. Steven Stamkos scored the game-winning power-play goal 2:18 into overtime to secure two points for Nashville. The defeat came shortly after Colorado suffered a heavy 7-2 loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier in the week.
Stamkos' overtime winner marked his 247th career power-play goal, tying Luc Robitaille for fifth-most in NHL history. Predators goaltender Justus Annunen turned aside 30 shots to earn the victory, while Colorado head coach Jared Bednar continues to navigate ongoing defensive lapses and ice-time distribution concerns.
