Bruins Announce Four More Roster Cuts; Poitras Heading to IR

The Boston Bruins reduced their roster to 23 active players on Sunday ahead of Monday's deadline. Defenseman Henri Jokiharju was placed on waivers for assignment to the AHL's Providence Bruins, while Dans Locmelis and Riley Duran were assigned to Providence. Jake Schmaltz will also report to Providence training camp, and forward Matt Poitras was placed on injured reserve due to an injury sustained on September 22.

Jokiharju, who is under a three-year contract, will leave Boston responsible for $1.775 million of his $3 million cap hit if he clears waivers. Marco Sturm noted that Poitras feels better every day as he continues his recovery. Locmelis impressed during camp after recovering from surgery earlier in the year.
