Boston Bruins coach Marco Sturm expects young defenseman Frederic Brunet to return to the lineup against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night.

Boston Bruins head coach Marco Sturm indicated that young defenseman Frederic Brunet is likely to return to the lineup on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Brunet was scratched for three consecutive games as a developmental reset after experiencing early-season growing pains. Sturm stated that the benching was not a punishment but an opportunity for the young player to catch his breath and observe from the press box.
Brunet has recorded one goal and four points across 10 games this season while averaging over 16 minutes per night. Writer Scott Roche notes that Brunet skated alongside regular partner Mason Lohrei during Tuesday's practice, while questioning the decision to keep the young defenseman sidelined for three straight games in favor of Jonathan Aspirot.
