Bruins Week Ahead: Schedule & Storylines – New Captain, Final Cut and More

The Boston Bruins formally named forward David Pastrnak the 28th captain in franchise history ahead of the upcoming season. Coming off his fourth straight 100-point season, Pastrnak takes over the captaincy under head coach Marco Sturm as the team concludes its preseason schedule.

Boston also trimmed its roster by placing defenseman Henri Jokiharju on waivers and reassigning prospects Dans Locmelis, Jake Schmaltz, and Riley Duran. Meanwhile, center Matthew Poitras was placed on injured reserve, while defenseman Nikita Zadorov has returned to full contact following offseason knee rehabilitation.
