Sometimes a hockey career takes the scenic route. Michael DiPietro knows something about that. At one point, the former Vancouver Canucks prospect was considered a pretty exciting young goaltender.
Former Vancouver Canucks prospect Michael DiPietro is receiving another opportunity in the NHL with the Boston Bruins. The 27-year-old goaltender is expected to start against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, marking his second NHL appearance of the season as he continues to pursue his first career NHL victory.
DiPietro earned his current chance after a strong American Hockey League campaign with the Providence Bruins, where he posted a 1.91 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage in 45 games. In his previous start on October 3, he stopped 26 of 29 shots during a 4-1 loss to Minnesota.
