The Sabres prospect pool has improved immensely in recent years, and the accolades continue to roll in during the opening stages of the 2026-27 season.

Buffalo Sabres 2026 first-round draft pick Ilia Morozov was named the NCHC Forward of the Week on Tuesday. The 18-year-old center scored four goals for Miami (Ohio) during a series against Robert Morris, while also winning 27 of 47 faceoffs. Selected 20th overall by Buffalo, Morozov currently leads the NCAA with three power-play goals in the 2026-27 season.
Writer Tim Daniels suggests Morozov could sign an entry-level deal after his college season ends and potentially see time with the AHL's Rochester Americans. Fellow Sabres prospect Matous Kucharcik, a 2025 fourth-round pick, has also started strong for Miami with four points across his first four games.
