NHL insider Elliotte Friedman initially reported the mutual interest on Sunday morning, and the team swiftly confirmed the deal. Stanley, who will wear number eight, has already participated in on-ice sessions with the club after Isaiah George reportedly lost out on the roster spot.
Stanley, a 28-year-old 6-foot-7 defenseman, posted career highs during the 2025-26 season with nine goals, 17 assists, and 26 points in 76 games split between the Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres. Originally drafted 18th overall by Winnipeg in 2016, he brings 278 games of regular-season NHL experience to New York's defensive depth.
