Buffalo Sabres defenseman Louis Crevier has signed a four-year, $16 million contract extension. The deal was completed on Thursday, just hours before Buffalo's regular-season opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The extension keeps the 25-year-old blueliner under contract with the franchise through the 2030-31 season, avoiding restricted free agency at the conclusion of the current campaign.
Buffalo acquired Crevier from the Chicago Blackhawks in June in a trade involving Bowen Byram and Jordan Greenway. Last season, Crevier recorded 25 points, 124 hits, and 95 blocked shots across 78 appearances with Chicago. Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff praised the defenseman's puck movement and defensive play ahead of the season opener.
