Calgary Flames forward Aydar Suniev has impressed across his first three games of the season, recording two goals and three points following his Oct. 7 call-up. After a challenging debut against the Colorado Avalanche, head coach Ryan Huska moved Suniev to the second line alongside Morgan Frost and Matt Coronato. The adjustment yielded immediate offensive results for the young forward.
Suniev scored his first NHL goal against Anaheim goaltender Ville Husso in a 4-2 loss before delivering a two-point performance in Calgary's subsequent 4-2 victory over the Ducks. In that contest, Suniev scored against Lukas Dostal and assisted on Martin Pospisil's game-winning goal, earning praise from The Hockey Writers for his composure and developing defensive play.
